Why I collect stationery?

To be honest, I’m not exactly sure why either, but I’ve always been drawn to pretty things, especially when it comes to collecting cute stationery.

Using those adorably designed pencils made doing math homework so much more fun when I was a kid. I remember having a glittery Winnie the Pooh gel pen and a few colorful alphabet erasers. These were probably the nicest stationery I owned back then, and I loved them dearly. Though they only lived in my pencil case for a short while. I was really sad when I ended up losing them just a few weeks later.

I also remember some of my rich classmates showing off their Pilot Dr. Grip pencils, I really wanted one too. But since I was a clumsy kid who often lost my stationery, my parents didn’t believe I could take care of these things…so I didn’t really get to own a lot of cute stationery in my childhood xD

I think that’s pretty much why I’ve been spending my adulthood filling that childhood gap. I’ve always dreamed of my pencil case filled with cute, aesthetically pleasing stationery. That idea alone just brings so much joy, and so I started collecting a bunch of note-taking essentials when I started university. Like the classic Zebra Sarasa gel pens and Mildliner, and then Uni Jetstream, Tombow Mono Air 5 correction tape, Muji notebooks.

I started collecting more when I got into creative journaling, from things like washi tapes, markers, stickers, and even stamps. I loved that I can decorate my journal entries with all these colorful things. What about you guys? Do you love collecting stationery too?

... Read moreSo, you've been bitten by the aesthetic stationery bug too? I completely get it! There's something truly magical about surrounding yourself with beautiful tools that make everyday tasks, like studying or journaling, feel like a treat. If you're looking to start or expand your own collection of cute and aesthetic stationery, let me share some tips and ideas I've picked up along my journey. First off, curating an aesthetic stationery collection isn't just about buying pretty things; it's about finding items that resonate with your personal style and spark joy every time you use them. Think about what colors and themes you love. Do you lean towards pastel aesthetic stationery, vibrant hues, or a minimalist black-and-white? This will guide your 'stationery haul' and help you create a cohesive look, much like those inspiring Pinterest stationery boards you see online. When it comes to essential items, I always recommend starting with the basics but with an aesthetic twist. Invest in a good set of colorful pens – gel pens in various shades, fine-liners, and brush pens are my absolute favorites. Brands like Zebra Sarasa, Uni Jetstream, and Mildliner pens are popular for a reason; their smooth ink and vibrant colors make writing and highlighting a pure delight. Next, a collection of high-quality markers can truly elevate your notes and journal entries, adding dimension and fun. Don't forget cute notebooks with appealing designs or simple, elegant covers that beg to be filled. I love Muji notebooks for their simplicity and quality, perfect for any aesthetic. But it doesn't stop there! Washi tapes are absolute game-changers for adding personality to any page. From delicate patterns to bold graphics, they can transform a plain spread into a work of art. Stickers, stamps, and even unique paper clips contribute to that 'cute stationery aesthetic' we all adore. For those who love creative journaling, having a variety of these decorative elements makes every entry a mini art project. I also find that having an organized space enhances the entire experience. Using clear containers, as I do, helps keep my colorful pens and markers visible and easily accessible, turning my desk into a Pinterest-worthy sanctuary. Imagine your desk, neatly organized with branded items and cute accessories, making every study session or journaling moment feel special. For discovering new items, I often browse online shops that specialize in Japanese and Korean stationery, as they're known for their adorable and high-quality designs. Websites like JetPens, Muji, and local art supply stores can be hidden gems. And of course, scrolling through Pinterest for 'aesthetic stationery haul' or 'cute aesthetic stationery items' provides endless inspiration for new finds and how to style them. Remember, your stationery items collection is a reflection of you, so gather pieces that make you happy and enhance your creative flow. Happy collecting, and enjoy turning your everyday tasks into beautiful moments!
