No Roman Chair? No Excuses. 🍑
No Roman chair at your gym? No problem. One of the best ways to stay consistent is learning effective alternatives. The best workout is the one you can actually do. Focus on controlled reps, full range of motion, and progressive overload. Your glutes don't know the name of the machine—they respond to effort and consistency.
When I realized my gym didn’t have a Roman chair, I initially felt stuck in my glute training routine. However, I soon learned that the key to effective glute growth lies not in the equipment but in consistency and proper technique. One of my favorite alternatives is the hip hinge movement paired with bodyweight or weights like a 25 lb dumbbell to create resistance—this method helped me stay challenged without specialized machines. Another effective option I found is performing slow and controlled glute bridges and single-leg hip thrusts, focusing on squeezing the glutes at the top. These motions engage the muscles fully throughout the range of motion. I also incorporated progressive overload by gradually increasing reps or adding resistance bands and weights. A critical lesson was to forget the name or brand of a machine—your glutes respond best when you prioritize controlled reps, full muscle activation, and consistency. Even without a Roman chair, I tracked my progress regularly and kept challenging myself with variations to avoid plateaus. In my experience, no excuses mean finding creative ways to build strength, whether you're a fit mom balancing workouts or a dedicated gym-goer aiming for glute growth. Ultimately, effort and persistence are what drive results, not the equipment you use.
