If you’re exploring the perfect place for quality CNY treats, the AMK Hub Chinese New Year Fair offers a striking variety that’s hard to beat. I was particularly impressed by Golden Taste Cookiez’s Nyonya-style chicken floss kapit puffs — light yet packed with flavor. Also, the balance of umami and crispness in Yong Hui's hae bee hiam rolls made them stand out as a must-try snack. For those who prefer organic options, Nuan Xin’s black sesame cookies provide a rich and wholesome flavor that’s both traditional and health-conscious. I also found the pineapple tarts from My Mum’s Cookies delightfully buttery with just the right amount of sweetness. The Sanrio-licensed Strawberry Macarons from Sugar Smith made for a cute and tasty gift, combining festive cheer with unique flavors. Beyond delicious food, the fair offers engaging cultural performances such as the Roving God of Fortune and the Lion Dance Extravaganza, adding to the festive atmosphere. It’s a great way to immerse yourself in local traditions while shopping for gifts. For anyone keen on bak kwa (barbecued meat), the fair and nearby vendors in Ang Mo Kio have some well-reviewed options - including Peng Guan Bak Kwa known for their tender, smoky slices that pair wonderfully with the other festive treats. Overall, visiting this fair felt like a warm, community-centered experience enriched by taste-tested quality sweets and rich festive culture. It’s an ideal stop for last-minute gift shopping and to enjoy seasonal activities with family or friends.
