This DIY olive oil hair mask has been a game-changer for me, transforming my 'before' frizz into healthy, shiny, and well-defined curly hair! Let's talk a bit more about why these simple ingredients work wonders, especially for us curly-haired folks. Olive oil isn't just for cooking; it's a fantastic natural moisturizer that deeply penetrates the hair shaft, adding incredible luster and softness. Apple cider vinegar, often overlooked, is brilliant for restoring your scalp's pH balance and smoothing out the hair cuticle, which means more shine and less frizz – a dream for wavy and curly hair! And mayonnaise? Don't knock it till you try it! Its rich oils and egg proteins provide a much-needed protein boost, helping to repair damage and strengthen strands. Finally, a touch of cinnamon stimulates blood flow to your scalp, promoting healthier growth. Now, for the application! Getting it right makes all the difference. First, make sure your hair is damp, not soaking wet. I usually mist mine with a spray bottle until it's just right. Then, I section my hair into four parts – this helps ensure even distribution. Starting from the roots and working my way down to the ends, I really massage the mask in, paying extra attention to any dry or damaged areas. Don't forget your scalp – a gentle massage here can be really invigorating! After applying, I twist my hair up and cover it with a shower cap. This traps in heat, helping the ingredients penetrate better. I leave it on for about 45-60 minutes while I catch up on emails or relax. Rinsing thoroughly is key. I usually do a quick rinse with lukewarm water before shampooing twice to ensure all the mask is out, then follow with my regular conditioner. The difference is noticeable immediately!
