Enough with the Taylor Swift slander
Without going too deeply into the whole anti-feminism root of girls thinking they’re too cool to like Taylor, I want to talk about how I have just simply had ENOUGH of the hate.
First of all, Taylor Swift is not the one controlling the cameras at these football games. She’s not in charge of anything that happens at the games AT ALL. Everyone who is upset, can take it up with the NFL and any of the broadcasters. Why are you guys getting so angry at her for something she cannot control? Also, does everyone really hate her SO MUCH to the point where if she’s on the screen for a total of 1 minute throughout hours worth of football, everyone loses their minds? And if so, why? Because you hate her music? Because you don’t like her face or the clothes she wears? Or do you just hate any woman being on the screen that long when football is meant to be “for the boys?”
Anyway, next up, to all of the people saying her songs sound the same… you have only heard the hits. I understand how someone could feel this way if they’ve only heard some of the hits. When I’ve asked people before which songs of hers they know, they can name Love Story, You Belong With Me, and Bad Blood. Very poppy and upbeat. These people are not getting deep into her discography before forming their opinions. You cannot make such bold statements when you’ve listened to a few songs out of all 10 albums. It’s ridiculous. You wouldn’t want someone to make such snap judgements about you after only having 2 conversations with you.
Additionally, stop with the “she only writes break up songs” crap. She writes about her experiences, so yes, that includes break up songs. She also has albums full of folklore and other stories from her life. Every single artist writes about their experiences. People come up with stories and songs from having previous experiences. It’s ok to have those experiences and then to create art to cope with them! I express my emotions in a journal, she expresses through songwriting. Everyone has their own ways to cope, she’s just found a way to take those experiences and capitalize off of them. Everyone wishes they could do the same.
Finally, keep in mind that when you are talking trash about her, slut-shaming, putting her down, Taylor Swift will not personally hear you or care about what you’re saying. The people who will hear you are the girls in your life that wish you were better than that. Girls who will know they can’t tell you about their life because they will feel shame from you. Or girls who won’t want to share their excitement about their favorite artist with you because you’ve only expressed negative emotions about them. You are being an asshole, and it’s only going to hurt YOU.
