At 35, I can still look 20, and I’m incredibly grateful for that.
Because when I actually was 20, I didn’t appreciate any of it.
I hated the shape and size of my nose. I wasn’t happy with my skin. I thought my breasts were too small. I even wore shoes one size too small because someone once told me I had big feet.
I believed I was too skinny, not curvy enough. My hair always seemed flat, dull, and the wrong color.
The truth is, self-awareness and self-love usually arrive much later than youth does. We often don’t realize how beautiful we are until years have passed.
That’s why I’m so thankful that at 35, I still look almost the same as I did at 20. This time, I get to enjoy it.
I accept myself. I know what suits me. I embrace my appearance instead of fighting it. I love my freckles and the little things that make me unique.
Sometimes the greatest gift isn’t looking young it’s finally seeing your own beauty while you still can.
Reflecting on my journey of self-acceptance, I realize how much perspective changes with time. When I was younger, I was consumed by insecurities about my appearance—from my nose and skin to body shape and even shoe size. I thought I had to meet certain standards of beauty to be happy, but none of that truly mattered. Over the years, I've learned that beauty isn't confined to perfect skin or ideal features. It's about embracing what makes you uniquely you—like my freckles or my natural hair shade. At 35, feeling comfortable in my skin is one of the greatest gifts I've received. I no longer fight against parts of myself but celebrate them instead. Maintaining a youthful appearance is lovely, but the real joy comes from the confidence born of self-love. It impacts how you carry yourself, how you engage with others, and how you view the world around you. I've found that simple daily self-care routines—like moisturizing, getting enough sleep, and eating well—complement this inner acceptance beautifully. For anyone struggling with their image, remember that those feelings of doubt are common but can change. Focus on what makes you happy and healthy rather than fitting an external ideal. When you begin to see yourself through the lens of kindness and appreciation, that’s when true beauty shines through, regardless of age.
