Spring! Where are you!
Last week it was all melted, I saw grass and sunshine and had hope.
Now the snow has returned!
Well that’s living in Alberta, Canada.
Living through spring in Alberta is truly a test of patience and adaptability. One week, you might find yourself stepping onto patches of fresh green grass, soaking up the warm sunshine, and feeling hopeful that winter is finally retreating. But just as quickly, a fresh layer of snow can blanket the landscape, reminding you that spring here isn’t a straightforward transition. I've learned to embrace this unpredictability. Dressing in layers becomes a daily routine — you never know whether you'll need a light jacket or a heavy coat. The melting snow also signals the slow awakening of nature, with birds returning and buds starting to form on trees. Yet, the surprise snowfall can temporarily pause this awakening, giving the world a peaceful, quiet look. If you live in or plan to visit Alberta during spring, it helps to stay flexible with plans and enjoy the unique rhythms of the season. Embrace outdoor activities on warmer days and appreciate the snow’s beauty when it returns. For many locals, these snow-spiked springs are part of what makes living here memorable and special. It’s a reminder that nature doesn’t always follow a set schedule and that with patience comes a deeper appreciation for the changing seasons.
