Trunk or Treat

I know how challenging traditional Halloween events can be for some children and families, which is why I'm so thrilled to share some extra details about our upcoming Trunk or Treat event on October 31st! Our goal is to create a truly inclusive experience, making sure everyone feels welcome and can enjoy the magic of Halloween. When we say 'sensory-friendly,' we're really thinking about the diverse needs of our community. For many kids, bright flashing lights, loud music, crowded spaces, and unexpected sounds can be overwhelming. That's why we've specifically designed an 'inside sensory safe tables' area for trick-or-treating. Imagine a quieter, more controlled environment where children can collect treats without feeling overstimulated. This space will focus on calm engagement, perhaps offering non-food treats or allergy-friendly options, and minimizing sudden surprises. It’s a wonderful alternative for those who might find the bustling outdoor trunk area a bit much, ensuring every child gets to experience the joy of trick-or-treating in a comfortable setting. But the fun doesn't stop there! Our outdoor 'trunk or treat with decorative trunks' promises plenty of visual delight, and we're encouraging everyone to get into the spirit by dressing up! For children who might be sensitive to certain textures or costumes, remember there are always comfortable and familiar options. We’ll also have 'hayrides,' which can be a wonderfully soothing experience, especially if you find a spot away from the loudest conversations. And for the older kids and those looking for an active outlet after the main event, 'archery tag open play' from 6-10pm offers a fantastic chance to burn off some energy in a structured, fun way. To make your experience even smoother, here are a few personal tips: Plan Ahead: Talk to your child beforehand about what to expect. Maybe look at pictures of past Trunk or Treat events or Halloween decorations. Comfort is Key: If dressing up, choose comfortable costumes that don't restrict movement or feel scratchy. Consider bringing a change of clothes if your child tends to get overwhelmed. Take Breaks: If the outdoor area becomes too much, remember our sensory-safe indoor space is there for a quiet respite. Bring Familiar Items: A favorite toy, blanket, or noise-canceling headphones can provide comfort in new environments. Our Trunk or Treat runs from 4-6pm on October 31st, right after school, making it a perfect early evening activity. We’ve poured a lot of love into making this a memorable and accessible Halloween celebration for all families.
