🌟 I’ve had my previous iPad layout for several months and felt like it needed a summer refresh, so I decided to update it! I love taking time to make a super cute set up that fits my aesthetic. I used the app Widgetsmith for most of the big photos, and used the built in shortcuts app to change app icons. Let me know if you have any questions about my iPad layout & how I made it!
... Read moreOkay, so you've seen my updated aesthetic iPad layout and maybe you're wondering how to get that super cute vibe for your own device! I totally get it, transforming your iPad into a personalized aesthetic masterpiece is so satisfying. When I decided my old layout needed a refresh, I spent some time really thinking about what I wanted – a mix of practical and totally adorable.
First things first, inspiration! I always start by scrolling through Pinterest and even other Lemon8 posts (like this one, hopefully!). I save tons of aesthetic wallpapers, cute app icon ideas, and widget examples. This helps me get a clear vision, whether I'm going for a pastel kawaii theme with Rilakkuma widgets and Pompompurin accents, or something more vintage with those cool Japanese stamp icons and retro camera widgets. The 'hintergrundbild ipad aesthetic' searches really come in handy here for finding unique backgrounds!
Then come the essential apps. My go-to is definitely Widgetsmith. It's fantastic for creating custom photo widgets – I use it for everything from my Animal Crossing disc widget to those colorful banknote designs. You can make large, medium, or small widgets with photos, time, weather, and more. It’s pretty intuitive once you get the hang of it; just pick your widget size, choose your style, and add your photos. For more artistic custom widgets and wallpapers, I've seen people use Canva and Procreate, which the OCR images also highlight. Imagine designing your own personalized collage wallpaper with your favorite figurines and crystals, just like in one of my lock screen examples!
Next up, custom app icons. This is where the Shortcuts app comes in handy. It might seem a little daunting at first, but it’s actually super easy. You just create a new shortcut, select 'Open App,' choose the app you want to customize, and then add it to your Home Screen. Before you add it, you can select 'Choose Photo' and pick any image you want for your icon. I love finding cute cartoon character icons – whether it's a Hello Kitty-like character or an anime head – to replace the standard ones. This is how I get my iPad app layout to look so unique!
Don't forget about organizing with folders! My app folders like 'Socials,' 'Games,' 'Shopping,' and 'Entertainment' (as shown in my fun apps page) keep everything tidy while still looking cute. You can use a single emoji or a custom icon for the folder itself to maintain the aesthetic.
For specific widgets, keep an eye out for unique ones. I adore my pink Tamagotchi widget and that MDvinyl record player widget – they add so much personality! Even a simple clock widget can be made cute with custom fonts and colors.
My biggest tip is to take your time and have fun with it. Don't feel pressured to get it perfect immediately. Start with a theme, gather your images, and then play around with Widgetsmith and Shortcuts. You'll be surprised at how quickly you can transform your iPad into your own aesthetic dream, truly reflecting your personal style. Happy customizing!
