How I’m training for my FIRST half marathon 🤍

Hi friends !! Wow have I been MIA..BUT up to some pretty exciting things 🩷

I’ve decided I’ll be running my first half marathon this fall.. I was needing to challenge myself, try something new, and really stick to a hobby I could commit to. Summers been throwing my schedule out of whack so it’s important to me to see this through.

How I’ve been training:

• Building my miles each week.. up to 10mi total this week

• Distance over speed — maintaining a steady, easy pace to run for longer

• Stretching

• New shoes, socks, and outfits! 💌 (💵 Price:look good feel good)

Follow along as I aim to do this!! I’m incredibly nervous but prepared for the challenge

... Read moreTraining for a half marathon is an incredible journey that combines physical endurance with mental strength. One key aspect to focus on is building miles progressively to allow your body to adapt without injury. Gradually increasing your distance — like reaching 10 miles in a week — helps build both stamina and confidence. Stressing distance over speed is a smart strategy, especially for beginners aiming to complete their first half marathon. Maintaining a steady, easy pace not only allows you to run longer but also reduces the risk of burnout. Incorporating stretching into your regimen is equally important to improve flexibility and prevent muscle tightness or strains. Cross-training can complement your running schedule, including workouts like stair climbs and treadmill hill sessions, as reflected in the varied workouts tracked in one week. These activities strengthen different muscle groups and improve cardiovascular fitness. Gear also plays a critical role. Investing in quality running shoes, moisture-wicking socks, and comfortable outfits can make training more enjoyable and reduce the risk of blisters or discomfort. Remember, “look good, feel good” often boosts motivation! Tracking your workouts through apps or fitness devices allows you to monitor metrics such as distance, calories burned, heart rate, pace, and cadence. This data is invaluable for adjusting your training and staying on target. Finally, mental preparation is crucial. It’s natural to feel nervous before your first race, but staying committed through challenges and celebrating small milestones can keep your morale high. Connecting with communities like #runnervibes and #halfmarathontraining can provide support and camaraderie. Embrace the process, stay consistent, and enjoy every step of your half marathon training adventure!

Marathon Training
You can’t have it all at once. Every win comes with a sacrifice — especially as a single mom. 🌟 Training for my first full marathon as a mom, student, and creator changed me — mentally, emotionally, and physically. Some days I crushed miles, other days I barely kept up with everything else

Half Marathon Training Plan
Last week I ran my first half marathon in almost 2 years!! I had taken a break from longer distances and stuck to 5 and 10Ks for a while since that’s what I enjoy most! But training for this half helped me get motivated to do longer runs and actually ignited a new love for longer (for me) runs!
