Runway or hallway to a haunted house?!
Okay, can we talk about runway fashion for a second? Seriously, sometimes I scroll through my feed and wonder if I've accidentally stumbled into a parallel universe where comfort and practicality are just... suggestions. My latest dilemma, inspired by what I saw today, is whether certain looks are meant for a high-fashion runway or, as I playfully thought, a hallway in a haunted house! It’s truly 'fashion... but make it unwearable' in its purest form. I mean, who decided that a jacket made of actual feathers that sheds everywhere, or shoes so structurally unsound they require a personal assistant just to walk, is a good idea for anyone outside of a photoshoot? And don't even get me started on the things that look like they've been through a shredder before even landing on the model. My kid's art projects are more coherent sometimes! As a mom, my fashion criteria are vastly different. Can I chase a toddler in it? Will it survive a rogue juice spill? Does it require more than two minutes to put on? If the answer to any of these is no, it's immediately disqualified. So when I see these avant-garde masterpieces, my brain just short-circuits. I imagine myself trying to navigate a grocery store aisle in one of those voluminous, sculptural dresses and just picture chaos. 'CUT THE SHOW!' is my brain's automatic response to some of these designs, because honestly, who could function? It’s not to say there isn't artistry in it, but sometimes you just have to laugh. The line between innovative and utterly impractical becomes a blurred, hilarious mess. It reminds me of those viral challenges where people try to wear ridiculous outfits in public – except these are actual designer pieces! I'm genuinely curious, have you ever seen a trend that made you think, 'I'M DONE with fashion journalism for today'? Because I certainly have. Perhaps these extreme looks are meant to inspire, to push boundaries, or just to give us all a good laugh. But for now, I'll stick to my trusty leggings and oversized sweaters. At least I know I won't trip over a train of tulle while trying to tie a shoelace or navigate a playground. What's the most 'unwearable' fashion trend you've ever seen? Share your thoughts below – let's commiserate!
