One of the biggest hidden reasons high-achieving women stay stuck in binging and overeating isn’t lack of discipline.
It’s shame.
The shame after binging.
The shame of “starting over.”
The shame of thinking:
“Why am I binging again?”
“I should have figured this out by now.”
Shame keeps your nervous system trapped in the binge/restrict cycle.
That’s why my work focuses on nervous system regulation, EFT tapping, and root cause healing — not more willpower.

When I first realized that shame, rather than willpower, plays a key role in sustaining the binge/restrict cycle, it was a game changer for me. Like many high-achieving women, I used to blame myself for lack of discipline, which only intensified my shame and perpetuated the cycle. Understanding that shame dysregulates the nervous system helped me shift my approach from self-criticism to self-compassion. One practical method I found incredibly helpful is EFT tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques). By gently tapping on specific acupressure points while acknowledging and accepting difficult emotions, I was able to reduce the nervous system's hyperarousal that fuels binge urges. It's not about resisting food but calming the body and mind. I also found that learning about polyvagal theory helped me understand how my nervous system's state influences my eating behaviors. When feeling unsafe or overwhelmed, my dorsal vagal shutdown response triggers numbing behaviors like binging. Slowly creating safety through mindfulness, deep breathing, and self-kindness practices was essential for healing. If you’re struggling with the shame cycle of binging, know that your experience is valid and common among driven women. Healing is possible when you focus on nervous system regulation instead of relying on willpower alone. Taking steps like watching masterclasses, practicing gentle EFT tapping, and embracing a compassionate mindset can make a lasting difference. Remember: you deserve a body and mind that feel safe and free from shame related to food.
