Violet you’re turning Violet!!
I've always been a huge fan of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, and one scene that always stuck with me was Violet Beauregarde's dramatic blueberry transformation. For this Halloween, I decided it was finally time to embrace my inner blueberry and create this iconic look! It's such a recognizable and fun costume, and the makeup is surprisingly achievable, even if you're not a pro. First things first, you'll need the right shades of blue and purple. I started by prepping my skin with a good primer – this is crucial for making sure your vibrant colors last all night. Then, I went in with a cream-based purple face paint as my base. The key here is to apply it evenly across your face and neck, blending down towards your collarbone if your costume allows. Don't be shy; you want that full-on blueberry hue! Once the purple base was set, I used a slightly darker blue cream paint to add dimension. Think about where natural shadows would fall on a round object – under the cheekbones, around the jawline, and slightly under the chin. I used a makeup sponge to dab and blend this darker blue, creating a subtle contour that gave my face a more 'inflated', rounded appearance, just like Violet turning into a giant blueberry. For the areas that needed to look extra plump, like my cheeks, I added a bit of lighter lavender highlight. For the eyes, I kept it playful. I used a vibrant matte purple eyeshadow all over my lid, blending it up towards my brow bone. Then, I added a metallic blue shimmer to the center of my lid to catch the light and make my eyes pop. A winged eyeliner in black helped define my eyes, and a good coat of mascara completed the eye look. Some people like to add blue or purple fake lashes, but I opted for a more subtle approach this time. For my lips, I went with a rich, glossy purple lipstick. You could even add a clear gloss on top to give it that 'juicy' blueberry effect! To really sell the Violet Beauregarde look, don't forget the hair! A blonde wig styled with a slight bob or pigtails is essential. And of course, the costume – a simple blue or purple tracksuit completes the ensemble. I even carried a prop stick of gum to really get into character. It wasn't just about the makeup; it was about embodying the whole chaotic, chewing-gum-loving spirit of Violet. The best part? Everyone instantly knew who I was, and I got so many laughs and compliments throughout the night. If you're looking for a unique, memorable, and fun Halloween costume this year, definitely give the Violet Beauregarde blueberry transformation a try!
