Don't ask me😎

... Read moreGrowing up, I've often noticed children talking or arguing with themselves. This behavior, while puzzling to many, is actually quite common and can be a natural part of their cognitive and emotional growth. Kids may engage in self-dialogue to process their feelings, sort through decisions, or rehearse social interactions. From personal experience, encouraging children to express their thoughts—even if it's in the form of a pretend argument—can help them gain better self-awareness. When I observed this in children around me, I found it helpful to listen quietly without interrupting, which allowed them to work through their thoughts independently. It's important to understand that such self-arguments are generally harmless and can be a sign that a child's brain is developing the capacity for complex reasoning and problem-solving. In some cases, kids might be trying to regulate emotions like frustration or anxiety by voicing out their inner conflicts. If these self-arguments become excessive or distressing, it could be useful to gently guide the child towards expressing their feelings verbally to a trusted adult or through creative outlets like drawing or writing. In summary, kids arguing within themselves is a window into their inner world. Observing this behavior can provide valuable clues about their emotional state and developmental stage. As caregivers, supporting this self-exploration fosters healthy emotional growth and resilience.

I love my daughter more than anything in this world, but I genuinely do NOT enjoy playing. And it took me quite a while to not feel guilty about it. I give my daughter love and attention, but sometimes the memories we make don’t have to involve me pretending to be a horse. I started to realize m
