All you need to know about Manhattanhenge ☀️
Twice a year, NYC shows off by its photo worthy event: Manhattanhenge. It’s when the sun aligns perfectly with Manhattan ‘s east and west streets, which creates the perfectly symmetrical lineup during sunset. Here’s what you need to know to capture this beautyyy:
☀️ When is the event? Manhattanhenge happens twice a year. Once usuallly around May 28-29 + July 11-12. Make sure you’re checking IG stories and blog posts regularly to find the exact date
☀️ Best spots? The best spot are along major east-west streets, like on 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42, and 57th. However, my favorite is on Tudor City Bridge .
☀️ If you’re a photographer, this one is important to know!! If you want the bestttt spot to capture the perfect lineup, get there at least 2 hours for a spot. People sometimes camp out 4 hours prior, but that’s how popular the spot is!!
I’ve captured Manhattanhenge twice and it amazes me every time how many people line up to capture the phenomena! It is truly an insaneeee sight, and worth it to see at least. You’ll also run into a lot of non-photographers capturing this lineup — it’s truly surreal.
