Beyoncé was photographed sharing a dinner table with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, y’all. And the Internet is ready to cancel her over it.
The event in question was the REFORM casino night gala, which was cohosted by Bey’s husband, Jay-Z, who is also one of the founding partners of REFORM Alliance - an organization that aims to transform probation and parole by changing laws, systems, and culture to create real pathways to work and well-being.
As a diehard, card carrying member of the Beyhive, I was ready to give Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter the benefit of the doubt and say she had no choice in the seating and was probably just as mad as her fans were to see the seating arrangements, but given that her husband Jay-Z is a cofounder of the organization… I do think that it was deliberate.
With that being said, I am not fully understanding the backlash. Everybody, across the political spectrum, gathered together to support an organization that seeks to reform the criminal justice system… Is that not a good thing?
As far as I’m aware, people across political beliefs being united for a cause is a beautiful thing to see. I feel the same way about Kim Kardashian sucking it up and working with President Trump over the past few years to help get people released from prison.
Sometimes you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do for the greater good, even if you don’t necessarily believe in the other person’s political party.
Especially when that political part is in control.
I’m just saying.
What about you? Are you ready to ditch Beyoncé over this controversy, or was she just taking one for the team?
... Read moreSeeing Beyoncé at a dinner table with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner sparked a lot of mixed reactions online. From my personal view, it’s important to see beyond the headline and consider the bigger picture. Jay-Z, Beyoncé’s husband, is a founding partner of the REFORM Alliance, an organization aiming to change probation and parole systems. This explains why these figures gathered—supporting a cause that transcends political divides.
This event reminded me of other celebrity efforts, like Kim Kardashian’s work with President Trump to help prisoners get clemency. Sometimes, working across political lines is necessary to create real change, even if the partnership feels uncomfortable to some fans.
It’s easy to get caught up in the idea of ‘cancelling’ someone over a photo, but I believe Beyoncé was “taking one for the team” to support meaningful reform. It’s a tough balancing act when public figures are involved with causes that require cooperation from people with differing views.
Ultimately, what matters most is the purpose behind these interactions, not just who is sitting next to whom at a dinner. The true impact will be seen if the REFORM Alliance’s efforts help transform the justice system for the better. I’m interested to hear what others think—should celebrities be judged for collaborating politically if it leads to positive change?
The images that circulated, showing Beyoncé and Ivanka seated together, were labeled “Secret friends?” and “Seated together.” While the optics might prompt questions, understanding the context of the REFORM casino night gala reveals the intent was about uniting efforts for criminal justice reform rather than political alliances. It’s a reminder to look deeper before forming judgments.
celebrities are overrated, never been a fan, of really any of them. love movies ( the stories), music( lyrics) etc but not the faces in front of the art. like their performance but l can't worship any person.
