Unpack My Reading Space With Me📚
You guys have now been through the entire process with me from packing, moving, and unpacking. I'm so happy with how this space turned out!!
My fiancé bought me an extra shelf after replacing the one that broke so now I have 3!! The top of the shelf has my cat and dog's treats because unless they are that high up my cat WILL hunt them down. The little vases my man brought inside after he was done mowing the yard for me to decorate the shelves with. They're wildflowers he found on the property and put in vases for me🫢🥰I told my fiancé I was obsessed with how music boxes worked as a kid and would watch the mechanism forever thinking it was magical (especially after the first tinker Bell movie) so any time he sees a cool one thrifting he will buy it. Those are on the top left shelf and there's one that reminds me of my favorite books near my Sarah J Mass collection❤️The reading chair, table, and cart I've owned already. The pink rug is something that was left here by the previous owners. The blanket has a picture of a library and reading chair with a fluffy white cat sitting in it. It looks almost identical to my childhood cat. My mom found it for me for my birthday 2 years ago
I organize my books by authors last name from left to right across the shelves. This makes the most sense in my brain but is a pain when I get a new book. I've had to completely shift everything around for 1 new book before.

Getting my books unpacked and settled into their new home was quite the journey, but seeing my reading corner finally come together is so satisfying! It really depends on what brings you joy and what's easiest for you to maintain. Some folks even arrange by size for a more uniform look, which can be surprisingly calming to the eye. If you're working with a small bedroom bookshelf space like many of us are, maximizing vertical real estate is key. I've seen brilliant ideas using wall book shelf units, or floating shelves above a desk or bed, which free up floor space entirely. Don't underestimate the power of a narrow, tall book shelf that can tuck into a corner, or even a multi-purpose piece of furniture like a console table with shelf space underneath. These solutions are perfect for making every inch count and keeping your room from feeling cluttered while still housing your beloved reads. Once your books are settled, it's time to decorate and make the space truly yours. My all done! lets decorate phase was my favorite! I love adding those little touches that tell a story, like the wildflowers my fiancé brought in or my collection of music boxes. You can incorporate small plants, framed artwork, candles, or even quirky bookends. Think about textures too – a soft throw blanket on a reading chair or a plush rug can instantly make the area feel more inviting and cozy. It’s about creating a beautiful visual landscape that complements your book collection. And for those with unique architectural features, I've always admired the cleverness of shelves on staircase wall designs. While not applicable to my current setup, it’s a fantastic way to utilize otherwise dead space in a visually striking manner, turning a transitional area into a mini-library. It just goes to show there's a perfect book shelf solution for almost any home!
