Why I Garden This Way 🌱

This is a small part of my story and what Growing Good Company is about.

Gardening, for me, is about caring for soil, protecting pollinators, and learning how to grow with intention instead of against nature.

... Read moreGardening is more than just a hobby for me; it's a mindful practice that connects me with the cycles of nature. By prioritizing soil health, I ensure that my plants get the nutrients they need naturally, which reduces the reliance on chemical fertilizers. Healthy soil forms the foundation of a thriving garden, teeming with life and resilience. Protecting pollinators like bees and butterflies is another core part of my gardening philosophy. These tiny creatures play an essential role in pollination, helping flowers and crops reproduce. By planting native flowering species and avoiding pesticides, my garden becomes a safe haven for pollinators, supporting biodiversity and sustaining the ecosystem. Growing with intention means observing how plants and wildlife interact and working alongside these natural processes rather than rushing or forcing growth. This approach often involves regenerative gardening techniques such as composting, mulching, and companion planting—all of which improve soil quality and garden productivity over time. Through my experiences, I’ve learned that stepping away from the fast-paced 'treadmill' of daily life to nurture a garden offers profound mental and physical benefits. It invites patience, presence, and respect for the environment. Plus, producing food or flowers organically in my backyard brings a rewarding sense of accomplishment and contributes to sustainable living. If you’re curious about adopting similar practices, start small: focus on enriching your soil with organic matter, plant pollinator-friendly species, and observe your garden’s natural rhythms. Over time, you'll notice not only healthier plants but also a deeper connection to nature’s seasons and cycles. This intentional style of gardening fosters a fulfilling lifestyle that cares for the earth and all its living beings.

Why I Garden This Way
I’m trying to restore a small piece of the earth the way I believe God originally intended it to be cared for. I think we’ve drifted pretty far from that original baseline. So this garden is my small way of getting back to it. Growing food without wearing the soil out. Making space for bees
