4 weeks post op

2025/12/15 Edited to

... Read moreWow, 4 weeks post-op already! It feels like a significant milestone, but honestly, some days still bring unexpected challenges. I wanted to share more about what I’ve been experiencing, especially regarding the persistent discomfort and the swelling that seems to have a mind of its own. Let's talk about the 'tummy tuck pain day by day' aspect at this stage. While the initial acute, sharp pain from the first couple of weeks has subsided, I'm finding myself dealing with more of a dull ache and constant soreness, particularly by the end of the day or after even light activity. Sometimes, it feels like a deep muscle ache, almost like I've done an intense ab workout (which, trust me, I haven't!). Other times, it's a tingling or burning sensation, which I've learned can be nerve regeneration – a good sign, but definitely uncomfortable. Sticking to a schedule with my prescribed pain relievers, even when the pain isn't excruciating, has been key to keeping it manageable. I’ve also found that very gentle, short walks around the house help. It feels counterintuitive sometimes, but getting the blood flowing without overdoing it seems to reduce stiffness. Applying a warm compress to my lower back or a light heating pad on my abdomen for 15-20 minutes provides a surprising amount of relief. It's a constant negotiation with my body, trying to find that sweet spot between resting enough and moving just enough. Now, about the 'swollen hip on one side' – this was a major concern for me and something I've been diligently monitoring. I noticed that one hip, usually my right, tends to swell up more than the other, giving me a lopsided feeling and making my clothes fit strangely. My surgeon explained that this can be quite common. It could be due to lymphatic fluid pooling, general inflammation from the extensive surgery, or even just how my body is reacting to the internal changes. I've been extremely diligent with my compression garments, ensuring they fit properly and provide even pressure without being too tight in any one spot. I’ve also started incorporating very gentle, doctor-approved lymphatic massages around the area, which seems to help encourage fluid drainage. Elevating my legs slightly when I'm resting has also made a noticeable difference in reducing the overall swelling, not just in my hips but throughout my lower abdomen. The areas around my linear scars, which are still quite prominent, seem to be particularly prone to holding onto this fluid. It's a reminder that healing is a complex process. Beyond dealing with pain and swelling, I've learned that patience is truly a virtue during recovery. Hydration is vital – I'm constantly sipping water, which my doctor said directly helps with flushing toxins and reducing swelling. Eating nutrient-dense, protein-rich foods also feels like it's fueling my body's repair systems. Most importantly, I'm trying to listen to my body and not push myself. Some days I feel more energetic, and others I'm completely wiped out. It's okay to rest when you need to. Communication with your surgical team is also paramount; they are your best resource for any new or worsening symptoms. This journey isn't linear, but with consistent care and mindful attention, I'm hopeful for continued progress.

Wow I can’t believe it’s been 4 weeks already! Some parts of body still feel slightly numb from the numbing fluid. The numbing fluid feels hard and lumpy in some areas and I have to do daily massages to help soften it. It’s going to take 2 more months before I’m fully healed. So far so good!
