My Realistic Cleaning Routine (for busy mom life)
Feeling overwhelmed by housework? Same.
As a mom, pet parent, and someone who works full time, I needed a routine that actually fits into my life—not one that demands hours I don’t have.
Here’s my realistic cleaning system that keeps the chaos in check without burning me out.
It’s broken into daily, weekly, and monthly tasks—with room to breathe.
—
Daily (30–45 min max):
• Quick tidy of common areas
• Dishes + wipe down counters
• 1–2 loads of laundry (including folding!)
• Spot clean bathrooms
• Feed pets + clean bowls
• Quick vacuum or sweep in high-traffic areas
—
Weekly Breakdown:
(Most of these take 15–40 min and rotate through the week.)
Monday: Kitchen deep clean + trash
Tuesday: Bathrooms + mirrors
Wednesday: Bedrooms reset (dust, vacuum, tidy)
Thursday: Laundry catch-up + floors
Friday: Office + Living Rooms
Saturday: Sheets + Towels (rotate beds)
Sunday: Catch up or REST
—
Monthly Touch-Ups:
• Clean baseboards, vents, light switches
• Deep clean appliances
• Wash pet beds + toys
• Organize closets or drawers
• Declutter one area of the house
—
Why It Works:
• Flexible—life happens
• Keeps mess manageable
• Built-in catch-up days
• 100% guilt-free if something gets skipped
—
SAVE this if you want a system that doesn’t stress you out.
