Destination Wedding in Slovenia, Lake Bled

Why I chose a Destination Wedding — I didn’t want a big wedding, I wanted a meaningful one.

Years ago, I didn’t even believe I’d get married. At that time, I believed in being “single but not available” — I didn’t believe in marriage, and I had no plans for it. I travelled alone, freely, without imagining a future wedding at all. One day, after I shared some travel stories in Croatia on Instagram, a friend messaged me and asked, “Are you planning to visit Slovenia? Lake Bled is awesome!” I had no idea where Slovenia was. I immediately Googled Lake Bled, and I remember feeling completely stunned — a quiet lake, a tiny island, and a church sitting right in the middle of it. My very first thought was: “This is the most beautiful wedding venue in the world. Any bride who gets married here is lucky. ”

I didn’t end up visiting Slovenia on that trip, but that image stayed with me. Years later, life surprised me. I fell in love.

And when we started talking about getting married, that memory came back so clearly — why not Lake Bled?

Why not I be the lucky one? Another reason mattered deeply to me. I’m a Christian, and getting married in a church, under the witness of God, is very meaningful to me. But, my hubby is an atheist. To get married in my church in Singapore, both partners must be Christians and official members, and the waiting list is long. I never believed faith should come from obligation — especially not for a wedding. Lake Bled felt like the answer. A sacred space that honored my faith, respected his journey, and allowed us to stand together honestly.

There were also things I knew I didn’t want. I didn’t want a traditional banquet wedding. I didn’t want to struggle to fill a long guest list with people I wasn’t close to, and feel like I was performing — marching in, entertaining, for them. What mattered most to me was simple: Intimacy. Beautiful scenery. Being married in a church. And a meaningful experience shared with our parents and closest friends.

Looking back, choosing a destination wedding wasn’t about being different. It was about choosing what felt true to us.❤️

... Read morePlanning a wedding at Lake Bled can seem like a dream come true, but it’s important to consider budget and venue options carefully. While Lake Bled is famed for its breathtaking natural beauty—featuring a serene lake, picturesque island church, and charming town—it’s worth exploring various venues around Bled and nearby Bohinj to find the perfect spot that fits your vision and budget. For couples dreaming of a beach-like wedding experience, some lakeside areas offer sandy or pebbly shorelines that create an enchanting atmosphere without the ocean. This can be a beautiful alternative for those wanting a relaxed yet elegant setting. To keep your wedding budget manageable, consider smaller guest lists and off-season dates. Many venues, including rustic villa options in Bled, provide intimate spaces that help reduce costs while still offering that unforgettable backdrop. Additionally, hiring a local makeup artist or wedding planner familiar with the area can streamline preparations and keep expenses reasonable. Personally, I found that embracing a simple, meaningful wedding allowed me to focus on the depth of the celebration rather than extravagance. It also helped me maintain a sense of authenticity and connection with my partner and close family and friends. Lake Bled’s unique charm and cultural blend gave our wedding a timeless feel without the pressure of traditional expectations. Exploring the latest wedding trends and services available locally—like expert makeup artistry and venue styling—can also enhance your special day while respecting your budget and desires. Ultimately, whether you envision an intimate lakeside ceremony or a celebration with select loved ones, Lake Bled offers a dreamy, heartfelt destination that can be tailored to your unique love story.

We ❤️ Slovenia! We holed up at Lake Bled all 5 days because we wanted a relaxing itinerary - Eat, swim, sleep. Repeat. This trip is hands down one of our best family holidays. It helped that the weather was warm enough (30 degrees in the day) to do wild swimming in the alpine lake everyday. Slo

Dream Wedding Cruise Interior Reveal ✨
When you think of Ha Long Bay cruises, what comes to mind? Wooden boat interiors with old, tacky designs. Touristy vibes, maybe a bit dated. Crowded spaces with too many people. A small green patch sun deck that feels… basic. Nice… but definitely not luxurious. I imagined the same. I brac
