Every March, I join the #PolishedForAPurpose initiative to highlight Amyloidosis Awareness Month—a rare but serious health condition that often goes unnoticed. What I love about this campaign is how it combines something as simple as nail art with a powerful message of community and awareness. I start with a rich burgundy polish to signify the cause and incorporate browns, neutrals, or even a fun zebra pattern to make my nails uniquely mine. This movement isn’t about fundraising; it’s about culture and connection. By using a familiar beauty ritual, it opens doors for conversations about health, genetic history, and personal stories related to amyloidosis. Whether you prefer visiting a salon or doing your nails at home, participating is easy and meaningful. Salons can join without altering their services, and individuals can choose styles that speak to them. Throughout the month, I share my nail looks on social media using hashtags like #RareByDesign and #AmyloidosisAwareness, which helps keep the conversation alive and educates others about this rare disease.
