Taco Chips recipe {video version}
Planned a barbecue today… until grocery shopping kicked my butt and I got home with zero desire to cook.
Reposting these taco chips because they sound heavenly right now, but we’re completely out of them in the freezer. Brutal timing 😭
Taco Samosas (Taco Chips) Recipe

1. Take on tortilla half and put Flour slurry on one corner. Fold that into a cone.

If you love easy and tasty snacks that you can prepare ahead, these taco chips truly hit the spot. One thing I appreciate about this recipe is how versatile it is—you can customize the fillings beyond just taco meat and cheese. For example, adding diced jalapeños, chopped onions, or even a spoonful of refried beans can add extra flavor and texture. I usually make a big batch and freeze them individually, which makes for a quick snack or appetizer whenever I want. When frying, make sure your oil temperature is hot enough (around 350°F) to get that golden and crispy finish without absorbing too much oil. Also, don’t overlook the flour slurry—this little step seals the tortillas perfectly and prevents the filling from leaking during cooking. If you prefer a healthier option, these taco chips can also be air-fried, which crisps them up with less oil, keeping them lighter but still delicious. As a parent, I’ve found these to be a fantastic afterschool snack—the kids love the crunch and cheesy taco flavor, and they’re relatively simple to prepare and freeze in advance. It’s also a great meal prep option for busy days when you want something satisfying without a lot of hassle. Plus, labeling freezer bags with date and contents helps keep everything organized. Overall, this recipe combines the comfort of classic taco flavors with the convenience of a handheld snack. Whether you’re planning for a barbecue, a party, or just a quick bite, these homemade taco chips are definitely worth trying out!
