Forget tacos… make Hot Cheeto Taco Balls instead 😮‍💨

Cheesy, crunchy, and packed with flavor, these Hot Cheeto Taco Balls are the ultimate snack mashup. Perfect for game day, parties, or just treating yourself at home😋

This recipe makes about 15 jumbo taco balls (5oz each) using 5 lbs of meat—perfect for sharing or saving for later. (Smaller batch at the bottom)

✨ Ingredients (Large Batch)

• 5 lbs ground beef

• 2 lbs mozzarella (block, shredded)

• 1 lb Colby Jack (block, shredded)

• 1 party-size bag Hot Cheetos (blended/crushed)

• 3 cups of flour

• 8 eggs (beaten)

• ½–1 cup water

• Taco seasoning

• Italian seasoning

• Garlic powder

• Tony’s Creole (optional)

• sauce dip (sour cream, taco sauce, salsa con queso, etc.)

👩🏽‍🍳 How To Make Them

1. Cook ground beef until done, then drain oil.

2. Add meat back to pot and season with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, taco seasoning & Tony’s.

3. Add ½–1 cup water, stir, and let simmer for 2 minutes.

4. Cool meat in the freezer for 30–45 minutes.

5. Shred mozzarella & Colby Jack cheese.

6. Mix cooled meat with shredded cheese.

7. Form into large balls (about 5oz each).

8. Freeze for 15–20 minutes until firm (not frozen solid).

9. Set up dredging station: one bowl flour, one bowl eggs, one bowl crushed Hot Cheetos.

10. Coat balls in this order: egg → flour → egg → Hot Cheetos.

11. Cook until golden & melty:

• Deep fry (recommended): 5–6 minutes

• Air fry (optional): 10–12 minutes at 350°F. Tip: make sure balls are firm from the freezer & spray lightly with oil before air frying. If they’re too soft, the cheesy filling may cause them to split open.

12. Serve hot with your favorite dips: cheese sauce, salsa, sour cream, or taco sauce.

✨ Small Batch Option (makes 4–8 taco balls)

• 1 lb ground beef

• 1 lb cheese total (½ mozzarella, ½ Colby Jack, shredded)

• Regular Sized Bag Hot Cheetos

• 2 cups flour

• 2-4 eggs (beaten)

• 1/4 - 1/2 cup water

• Seasonings to taste

👉 Follow the same steps as above, just with the smaller measurements. Perfect for testing them out before making the big batch!

😋 Chef’s Note: You don’t have to stick with Hot Cheetos—try Doritos, Takis, or any chips you love!

... Read moreHot Cheeto Taco Balls have become a popular twist on traditional tacos, combining the rich flavors of seasoned ground beef and melted cheese with the spicy, crunchy coating of crushed Hot Cheetos. This snack is perfect for those who love bold, intense flavors and crave a fun, shareable appetizer. When making Hot Cheeto Taco Balls, the key to success lies in the balance of textures and flavors—melty, gooey cheese inside contrasts with the crisp, spicy outer layer. For best results, seasoning your ground beef with a combination of garlic powder, taco seasoning, Italian seasoning, and optional Tony’s Creole seasoning enhances the meat’s flavor profile, making each bite savory and well-rounded. Freezing the formed balls before coating helps maintain their shape during cooking and prevents them from falling apart, especially important if you choose air frying over deep frying. While the recipe calls for Hot Cheetos, feel free to experiment with other spicy or flavored chips like Doritos or Takis, as suggested by many chefs. This customization allows you to tailor the snack to your preferred spice level and crunch. These taco balls are versatile—serving them with various dips such as sour cream, queso, taco sauce, or salsa adds more layers of taste and makes them even more crowd-pleasing. They work great as party appetizers, game day snacks, or even casual comfort food for a cozy night in. Nutritionally, these taco balls are protein-rich thanks to the ground beef and cheese, providing satisfying sustenance. Using quality cheeses like mozzarella and Colby Jack ensures excellent meltability and flavor complexity. For those new to this recipe, starting with the smaller batch version allows you to test flavors and cooking techniques without committing to a large quantity. Once comfortable, scaling up to make jumbo taco balls is easy. Incorporating Hot Cheeto Taco Balls into your snack repertoire is a fun way to elevate traditional taco flavors with a crispy, spicy twist that everyone will love.
