If you’re dreading teaching on Halloween, consider doing a fun room transformation for the day! ⛺️🎃📝

It doesn’t have to be anything crazy. Just move your desks to the side, put your chairs in a circle (or have the kids sit on the ground if the chairs are attached to the desks), put on a forest background, and have students read spooky stories with a flashlight. 🔦

I have my students write their own stories to share, but you could also have them read some of the classics if you don’t have time for them to write their own. The Tell-Tale Heart is one of my favorites to read with my 7th and 8th graders each year. There’s an awesome dramatic reading on YouTube, and if you have clipboards, students can take “doodle notes” as they listen. There are so many fun ways to make this room transformation and Halloween super engaging when trick-or-treating, hanging out with friends, and the school dance are the only things on their minds.

I also have a video walking through how I do our spooky short story assignment, so check that out if you have time to squeeze it in! **This is a repost, but I wanted to share it again before Halloween so you could do it with your students! #teachersoftiktok #middleschoolteacher #halloweenactivities #writinglessons #roomtransformation
