GYM: Here are some signs you need a deload week!

Never had a deload week??? Me neither!!

I’ve been in the gym 3 years and this is my first deload ever. I also don’t get sick so literally never had to take time off.

However, I just finished a glute growth program that had me begging for my life. What once was my happy place (the gym) was very difficult to be there. I would mentally be exhausted not wanting to be there making myself push through.

But then found myself eating excessively a bit too often. That’s what it clicked and I realized my program was already over by 4 weeks and I was still training. At this point I was overtraining.

Here were my signs and could be the signs you need to pay attention to:

⭐️ Burnout: If you’re mentally feeling fatigued like the gym that once was a safe haven for you now you are dreading being there. There’s mental fog and you really don’t want to “push through your workout” — This is different from an off day at the gym or a day you don’t feel like working out. It happens constantly more that once a week. If you experienced this chances are it’s time for a deload.

⭐️ Not eating enough: If you’re feeling extremely hungry or unable to curb your appetite like you normally would in a cut, and your body is naturally gravitating towards higher calories a little too often — chances are you need a deload. Your body has overtrained and its energy requirements are not being met.

⭐️ It you’re unable to sleep, and are being realllly dependent of pre workout and stimulants like caffeine, you probably need a deload week as well as some sleep.

⭐️ If you’ve been on a program for 6-8 weeks. You’ll probably want a deload + look at your macros before you continue or change your program. That way you can sustain your energy levels with proper nutrition.

Why is a deload week important ?
A deload week is a short recovery phase—usually lasting 5–7 days—where you intentionally reduce the intensity, volume, or load of your workouts. Think of it as a strategic “step back” that helps you move forward. During a deload, you might lift lighter weights, do fewer sets, or swap heavy traini
