Bagels 🥯
Yesterday I decided to make bagels and they come out pretty good other than the hole closing on me! It had a nice crunch on the outside but decently soft on the inside! 🥯 I’m not sure if I entirely love the recipe I used but I think it’s a super easy recipe that gives me the courage to try a different recipe for bagels!
Ingredients:
Self rising flour
non fat plain greek yogurt
Recipe:
Mix a 1:1 ratio of self rising flour and greek yogurt until it forms a shaggy dough then knead until entirely smooth!
Cut dough into fourths or weigh out each piece as you’d like and roll into bagel form! this is where I messed up i should’ve rolled it out like a tube first and connected the ends so the hole didn’t close
Place on baking sheet with parchment paper use egg wash or water on top of bagels to place any toppings
Place in oven on 390 degrees for 25-35 minutes or until perfectly golden and crispy
Happy Baking!

Bagels are a beloved treat enjoyed by many around the world, and making them at home can be a rewarding experience. The key to achieving perfect bagels lies in the ingredients and technique. The combination of self-rising flour and non-fat plain Greek yogurt creates a dough that is easy to work with and requires no yeast or long rising times. This method allows bakers of all skill levels to try their hand at bagel making with confidence. When shaping your bagels, remember that proper technique is vital. Rolling the dough into a long tube before connecting the ends ensures the signature hole remains open, providing that classic bagel look and texture. For added flavor and texture, consider incorporating toppings such as sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or everything bagel seasoning. An egg wash applied before baking can enhance the golden color and help toppings adhere to the bagels. Baking at a temperature of 390 degrees Fahrenheit ensures a crispy exterior while keeping the inside soft and chewy. Start checking your bagels around the 25-minute mark for perfect golden brown color. If you are looking to diversify your bagel-making skills, consider experimenting with different flavorings and add-ins, such as herbs, spices, or even cheese. The beauty of homemade bagels is the ability to tailor them to your tastes! Whether enjoyed plain, toasted with cream cheese, or topped with your favorite sandwich fillings, these bagels are sure to impress your family and friends. Happy baking!
