Easy Czech goulash soup 🥘🥫🥔

Best prepared at least one day ahead

(I don’t really measure, but these are my best guesses)

1-2 shallots (subs. white or red onion) 🧅

3 slices of bacon 🥓 ( optional, but will make it extra rich)

2 cloves of garlic

2 tbs tomato paste

1-1.5 lbs beef stew meat 🥩

Broth to just cover the mixture ( around 4 cups)

1 big potato 🥔

Spices: salt, pepper, paprika, smoked paprika, pepper, 2 bay leaves,marjoram, caraway ( about 1 tsp of each)

1-2 tbs of flour or subs cornstarch

For serving: fresh marjoram, 1 clove of garlic, oregano or parsley

Cut the bacon and onions, sauté until golden brown on medium heat.

Fat from the bacon should be enough, but you can add little bit of lard, butter, oil or just water.

Add cubed beef and brown it.

Add tomato paste to coat it.

Add paprika and flour and work quickly, so it doesnt burn and become bitter.

Add broth, salt, pepper, caraway and simmer until the meat is tender ( 30-45min, the longer the better)

When the meat is tender add potatoes until cooked.

When finish add marjoram and pressed garlic clove.
