48 hours house to home transformation (wip!!)

Still a work in progress but am already obsessed! All those time spent browsing XHS for inspo and treasure hunting on taobao paid 😮‍💨

The home is still pretty empty but we’ll be taking our time to fill up this space only with pieces and things we love.

IG saw these first! @/home.with.nicky

... Read moreTransforming a home within just 48 hours requires careful planning and a clear vision. One of my top priorities was choosing a neutral, soothing color palette that creates a cozy atmosphere without overwhelming the space. I found that selecting soft beiges, greys, and warm whites gave the rooms a timeless elegance while making it easier to add accent colors later. When decorating, I opted for pieces that balance aesthetics with comfort—like the Breville appliances that combine sleek design with functionality and the plush sofa and rug that finally arrived after two weeks of anticipation. Small details, such as installing blinds and assembling furniture, played a surprisingly big role in completing the look and feel of our home. Budgeting for this quick transformation required prioritizing essential upgrades first, such as the vanity and basin in the master bathroom and kitchen electrical work for the hob and oven. These improvements set a solid foundation for the home while allowing us to gradually incorporate personal touches over time. I also wanted to highlight how plants can enhance any cozy home. Adding greenery not only brings vitality to the space but also helps couples bond through shared care for their living environment. Creating 'plant stages'—from choose-your-pot, to watering routines—became a fun, calming ritual. This journey is still unfolding, but sharing these experiences publicly through social channels encourages me and hopefully inspires others planning their own home makeovers. Remember, a truly cozy home is built piece by piece, with patience and genuine love for your living space.

No more renovation woes 🤣
The first house we had, we hired and ID…. Let’s just say it didn’t go really well…. Hence this time, we decided to go with a contractor instead since we already knew what we want to do and all I can say is, best decision ever 💯 Also pocket friendly 🤣🤣

How to clean your house fast after reno
Our reno site is slowly turning into a home! 😊 We love how much lighter the space feels after post reno cleaning. Honestly there’s still some fine dust on the floor because we didn’t opt for deep cleaning for our tiles (there’s still a bit of reno works to go). But we can now comfortably move in ou

How much $$$ to reno? (2025) 🔨💵
We derived these rates from the quotes we received during Apr - Jun 2025. All values are before GST. 📝 Notes: Rates are not all it seems. In masonry for example, some quoted a separate item for waterproofing, mitre joints and drops. Some included it in the tiling rates. 😵‍💫 Some quoted for hi
