Yunnan in Sep 2025 was the off-peak season, perfect to escape Singapore’s heat and avoid the local crowd! The temp ranged from 20 to 12 deg as the altitude increases.

🙌🏻Tips/Recommendations
- You can free and easy in Kunming, Dali and Lijiang, no tours needed as you can didi/拼车 there, attractions are not too far away🚕
- Lugu Lake is located 4h drive away from Lijiang, suggest to get a driver for the trip, 1 night at Lugu Lake is sufficient! 🧑🌾
- Recommend to get a driver for Shangri-La as the nature landscapes are far from the Ancient Town and the journey is far and winding roads. My driver is an easygoing local who speaks and drives with experience! 🚙🚙🚙
- Land at Kunming and acclimatise slowly through gradual ascend (KM > DL > LJ > Shangri-La) 🫁
- Walk very slowly during high altitude (>3,000m) and try not to shower during the first night in Shangri-La, else you will definitely feel lightheaded after the shower🚿
🏠About accommodations:
📍Kunming
Latuso Hotel
Would have been better if there’s better security for the lift access to the rooms, there is no access card required for the lift. While the furnishings are nice and is one of the most instagramable hotel in Kunming per Trip.com, rooms are located above eateries, can hear and see the 人间烟火.
SFEEL Designer Hotel
Located within Kunming Old Street, friendly staff with ice maker machine, coffee machine at the lobby. Would prefer this hotel over Latuso Hotel.
📍Dali
Dali Impression Shuiyue Yinshi Hotel
Very hospitable staff, gave us a room upgrade with a view of 苍山 and came with a welcome platter with fruits, nuts and a slice of chocolate cake. Though there are no lift assess, the staff helped with the luggages. Located at a short walk away from Dali Ancient Town.
📍Lijiang (including 1n stay at Lugu Lake)
Lijiang Ancient Town: Lijiang ancient city Zangyuan snow mountain view hotel (big water wheel shop)
A short drive away from Lijiang Ancient Town, given a free room upgrade with a greenery view. Hygiene can be improved, pillows and beds had minor stains but were promptly replaced.
Lugu Lake: Lutu Hotel
Located at 大落水村, one of the more populated area with convenience store just beside the hotel. The lobby had a full view of the Lugu Lake. Lovely room and modern furnishings.
📍Shangri-La
Shangri-La Weiguang Xingwan Designer Resort Inn (Dukezong Ancient City Dafosi Prayer Wheel)
Room comes with oxygen supply, modern minimalist furnishings.
📍Feilai Temple
Yunmanshan Luxury Homestay (Feilai Temple Scenic Area)
Room comes with oxygen supply and the hotel provides free transportation (5min drive) to the viewing deck for the alpenglow of Meili Snow Mountain!
💖My favorite city is Shangri-La, the nature landscapes are really breathtaking, as breath-taking as I felt breathless with the high altitudes.
