To build a truly balanced investment portfolio, I’ve found it crucial to diversify across various asset types and geographic regions. Beyond just stocks and ETFs, I include bonds and REITs to stabilize returns and generate consistent income. For example, Singapore government bonds like SGS with different tenors provide reliable coupons, while REITs such as Mapletree Logistics offer attractive dividends without the hassle of physical property management. Investing in ETFs like the STI ETF and Lion-OSPL APAC Finance ETF enables me to gain exposure to broader market indexes and sectors with relatively low fees, helping spread risk effectively. I also consider commodities, including gold ETFs, as a hedge against inflation and market volatility. For those new to investing, I recommend starting with ETFs and government bonds to understand risk tolerance and market movements before exploring individual stocks or more complex instruments. Regularly reviewing asset allocation aligned with your financial goals and market conditions is key. Ultimately, patience and a long-term perspective are vital. Consistently contributing to a diversified portfolio and reinvesting dividends have been instrumental in my progress toward financial freedom. I encourage other investors to research, remain disciplined, and tailor their balanced investment solutions to their unique situations and goals.
