As a longtime fan of theater, especially musicals like Hamilton, I've felt the impact whenever a beloved actor like JJ Niemann steps away from their role. It reminds me just how much live performance brings unique joy and connection that you can't get anywhere else. I remember when my parents dropped me off at university, and how the excitement around theater kept me grounded through those early years. JJ Niemann’s journey with Hamilton has been inspirational for many, including members of the LGBTQ+ community who see themselves reflected in his performances. Although there’s always sadness when favorite performers leave, it’s also part of the magic of theater—the ever-changing casts bringing new energy and interpretation to roles we cherish. For me, missing the theater includes missing the moments of live artistry and shared experience that fuel our passion. I hope future performers continue to elevate Hamilton and keep audiences captivated.
