It is reported by ZDNET Korea that Samsung Electronics is in talks with BOE, a major screen manufacturer from China, to pull into the supply chain and maybe produce a screen for the Galaxy S27 instead. Samsung's mobile division has moved by sending OLED screen development documents, and a sample screen has been tested for evaluation since last month.

Surprisingly, insiders say that Samsung executives seem to be responding positively to this, in part because BOE is pro-organized, offering Samsung Display a cheaper price of $5 per piece as an incentive to close the deal. The patent issue was cleared up late last year, giving BOE seamless access to Samsung's diamond pixel arranging technology.

In fact, BOE is not a new face in the industry because it has already shook hands with CSOT, made a screen for a mid-range mobile like the Galaxy A73, and made a screen for Apple like the iPhone 17 series and an economical model like the iPhone 17e. But accepting the Android flagship job like the S27 is a huge step forward.

Behind the BOE is slicing the price down this much, because the Chinese mobile camp has been lowering production targets due to the high price of memory chips and the problem of lack of market, so the BOE screen factory has to find an order to maintain production capacity. The $5 drop for Samsung is a key factor that could pull the deal.
