Migraine Update: What Actually Triggers Mine

Before I started Qulipta, my migraines lasted days, weeks… sometimes even months.

It felt like I was constantly in one.

Since starting it, they’ve improved but I’ve also learned something important:

Mine aren’t random.

They’re triggered by things I can’t always control, like:

– Weather changes

– Barometric pressure shifts

– Sleep disruptions

– Dehydration (sometimes not always)

It’s not just one thing it’s when multiple triggers stack up.

I don’t skip meals. I take care of myself.

And I still get migraines.

That’s been a hard but important realization.

Now I focus less on blaming myself and more on recognizing patterns early and responding to them.

This isn’t a cure. But going from months-long migraines to this… is progress.

#migrainejourney #chronicmigraine #migraineawareness #womenswellness #healthjourney 04.02.26

And I’ll take progress.

If you deal with migraines too, what are your biggest triggers?

Omaha

... Read moreOver time, I’ve realized that managing migraines is less about eliminating every trigger and more about understanding how they combine to affect me. Weather changes, especially shifts in barometric pressure, have proven to be my most consistent triggers. I've noticed that when a storm is approaching or the weather fluctuates suddenly, my migraines are more likely to start. Dehydration also plays a significant role, though its impact varies. Sometimes, even when I hydrate well, other factors like sleep disruption can overwhelm the benefit of fluids. Sleep quality and consistency are crucial triggers. Whenever I get less rest or have a disturbed sleep pattern, the chances of migraine increase significantly. One key takeaway from my experience is that no single factor causes the migraine alone; it's the stacking of these triggers that leads to an episode. To combat this, I’ve begun focusing on early recognition of symptoms. At the first sign, I try to rest and rehydrate promptly. This immediate response often prevents a full-blown migraine attack or shortens its duration. Additionally, using preventive treatments like Qulipta has made a difference. While not a cure, it has reduced the frequency and length of my migraines from months to days or weeks. This progress has been encouraging, reminding me that chronic migraines can be managed even if not fully eliminated. I encourage others dealing with migraines to track their potential triggers carefully. Weather apps can help predict barometric pressure changes, and maintaining a regular sleep schedule is beneficial. While self-care like not skipping meals is important, sometimes triggers are beyond control, so removing self-blame is vital. Sharing this journey and learning from others #migrainejourney has made the path less isolating. If you experience migraines too, recognizing your unique pattern and responding early could significantly improve your quality of life.
