Missing Periods

Is your period MIA? 🧐 If your cycle has been missing or irregular, it’s your body’s way of telling you that something’s off. It might seem convenient, but having a regular menstrual cycle is essential for your overall health!

AND no it’s not because “some girls just lose their periods when they are working out” NO babe. that’s your body giving you a signal that something needs attention! 🚨🚨

Here are a few possible reasons why your period might be missing:

Hormonal Imbalances: Imbalances in hormones like estrogen, progesterone, or even cortisol can cause irregular or missing periods. Stress, thyroid issues, or PCOS might be playing a role.

Low Body Fat or Over-Exercising: Your body needs a certain level of body fat to maintain a healthy cycle. Over-exercising or rapid weight loss can throw off your hormone levels, leading to missed periods.

Nutrient Deficiencies: Your body requires key nutrients like healthy fats, iron, and magnesium to regulate your cycle. Missing out on these could cause your period to go missing too.

Chronic Stress: High cortisol levels from chronic stress can suppress the hormones responsible for your period. Managing stress is key to getting your cycle back on track.

Birth Control or Medications: Some forms of hormonal birth control or medications can cause your period to become irregular or disappear altogether.

Underlying Health Conditions: Conditions like PCOS, thyroid disorders, or even gut imbalances can affect your menstrual cycle.

Your period is more than just a monthly inconvenience—it’s a vital sign of your overall health! Our cycle is loud 5th vital sign!! (there’s a book called “the fifth vital sign”- excellent read!!)

It also shouldn’t be a huge inconvenience.

... Read moreIf you have missing periods, it’s essential to pinpoint the underlying reasons. Hormonal imbalances, such as changes in estrogen and progesterone levels due to conditions like PCOS or thyroid issues, often lead to irregularities. Additionally, both low body fat and over-exercising can disrupt your hormonal balance, affecting your menstrual cycle. Nutrient deficiencies, particularly of iron and magnesium, can also play a crucial role. Chronic stress raises cortisol levels and impacts hormone regulation; thus, adopting stress management techniques is crucial for reproductive health. Lastly, consider the influence of birth control methods, which can lead to missed or irregular periods. Keep track of your health and consult a professional if concerns arise. It's vital to listen to your body's signals as they are key indicators of your overall health.
