small things that aren’t so small to me

... Read moreIt's amazing, isn't it? How some of the most profound moments in our lives aren't grand gestures or huge achievements, but rather those 'small things' that just sneak up on you and fill your heart. I've been thinking a lot lately about why these seemingly insignificant details end up meaning so much more to me than people might expect, and I wanted to share some of my reflections. For starters, those vibrant sunsets over the ocean – you know the ones, where the sky just explodes with color, painting the wet sand in hues of orange and pink? Standing there, feeling the gentle breeze on a sandy shore, watching the sun dip below the horizon... that's not just a pretty view. For me, it's a moment of pure calm, a reminder of the immense beauty our world holds, and it puts everything into perspective. It’s a gift, a daily spectacle that asks for nothing but our presence. Then there are the human connections, those little acts of kindness that truly resonate. A friend remembering a tiny detail you mentioned weeks ago, or that unexpected pinky promise with a loved one that solidifies trust and affection in the simplest way. What about those random gifts, not necessarily expensive, but chosen with thought and care? Maybe it's a quirky sticker, a handwritten note, or a seashell found on the beach just for you. These aren’t just objects; they’re tangible expressions of love and thoughtfulness that remind you someone cares. It's easy to get caught up in the big picture, the goals, the to-do lists. But I've found that intentionally slowing down to notice these 'small things' is a game-changer for my overall happiness. It could be the smell of fresh coffee in the morning, the warmth of sunshine on your face, the perfect song coming on the radio at just the right moment, or even the comforting purr of a pet resting beside you. These are tiny pockets of joy, readily available if we just open our eyes and hearts to them. They’re also incredibly personal. What might seem ordinary to one person could be a profound source of comfort or inspiration to another. For me, the rhythmic sound of the ocean waves crashing on the shore, even from a distance, can instantly bring a sense of peace. Or the way light filters through the leaves of a tree, creating dancing shadows – it’s a tiny, fleeting art show happening right before your eyes. These sensory details often go unnoticed, yet they contribute so much to our daily experience. They remind us to stay grounded, to connect with our surroundings, and to find magic in the mundane. So, how do we make sure we don't miss them? I've started a little practice of jotting down one 'small thing' that made me smile each day. It could be a delicious bite of food, a funny text from a friend, or simply the feeling of accomplishment after finishing a task. It trains your brain to look for the good, to appreciate the present moment, and to find beauty in the ordinary. It’s like creating a mental scrapbook of joy, ready to be revisited whenever you need a little lift. Ultimately, these 'small things that aren't so small' are the threads that weave the rich tapestry of our lives. They are the quiet affirmations, the gentle comforts, and the unexpected delights that make every day worth living. Let's all commit to noticing them a little more, shall we? You'd be surprised how much richer your life becomes when you do.

Sometimes I struggle with feeling feminine. When I younger I use to think femininity had to do with long hair, soft features, super girly clothes, being flirty & at the time I had none of that. I was a “TomBoy” and when I exited that stage of my life I felt like I was in limbo. But naturally As
