Solitude forces them to face themselves, and that is their worst fear. They must always have someone around to feed them emotionally, financially, or socially. The faster they jump into a new relationship, the less likely they are to deal with accountability or consequences for their actions in the last one.

And here’s the painful truth—often their new partner becomes a prop in their ongoing performance. They parade the new relationship around as proof that they are desirable, worthy, and “not the problem.” It’s a weaponized rebound designed not just to fill their emptiness but to inflict pain on their former partner, to make them doubt themselves, and to rewrite the narrative. Suddenly, the narcissist is posting about happiness, love, and connection, while their last partner is left reeling from trauma and betrayal.

But here’s what survivors must remember: it is not love. It is not commitment. It is a continuation of the cycle. The same manipulation, the same lies, the same patterns will repeat, just with a different face. And while the narcissist may look like they’ve “won,” the reality is that nothing has changed for them—they are still empty, still hungry, still dependent on using others to survive.

So when you see a narcissist rush into their next relationship, remind yourself: that is not love. That is desperation in disguise. The real strength lies in the survivor who chooses healing, growth, and self-respect instead of another cycle of abuse.
