YOU CAN BE IN SO MUCH PAIN YET STILL UNABLE TO EXPLAIN WHAT YOU ARE EXPERIENCING TO SOMEONE THAT HAS NOT EXPERIENCED NARCISSISTIC ABUSE.

It’s a kind of suffering that exists in shadows, hidden beneath smiles, small talk, and “I’m fine” responses. The exhaustion isn’t just physical—it’s mental, emotional, spiritual. You feel your reality constantly questioned, your memories twisted, your feelings invalidated. Every interaction with the abuser is a minefield; every attempt to express yourself feels like walking on glass. And when you try to reach out to someone who hasn’t lived it, their words often fall flat, their advice feels naive, their attempts to console sometimes feel like salt on the wound.

The isolation is profound because the world doesn’t understand what it looks like to be systematically broken down by someone who once claimed to love you. The confusion can be suffocating: “Am I overreacting? Am I too sensitive? Maybe it really is me.” And yet, deep down, you know the truth—you know the abuse happened, you know the manipulation was real, and you know the pain is valid, even if it can’t be fully explained.

You learn to carry invisible scars, to navigate life carefully, to protect yourself without fully knowing how. You grieve what was stolen from you—trust, love, peace, safety—and you grieve it silently because no one truly understands the gravity of what you lost. And sometimes, even admitting it to yourself feels impossible, because the reality is so heavy, so complex, and so uniquely your own.

But despite it all, you survive. You learn resilience in ways others cannot comprehend. You find strength in solitude, clarity in reflection, and eventually, a quiet power in knowing that your pain is real, your story is real, and even if no one else fully understands, your truth remains yours.

The First Agreement: Be Impeccable With Your Word
I’ve been diving into The Four Agreements again, and let’s start with the first! “Be impeccable with your word.” It’s not just “don’t lie.” It’s learning to stop using your own voice as a weapon against yourself. 💙 Speak with integrity. 💙 Say what you mean, and mean what you say. 💙 Don’
