Healthier food options!

This post is a little different than my previous “healthier food switches for picky eaters” posts. In this one, rather than giving food switches, I’ve just got some examples of healthier food options in general. The first picture has some options to try if you have a hard time getting protein or veggies into your child or your adult picky eater.

As I’ve said in my previous posts, my children are very picky and I have a HORRIBLE time trying to get them to eat meat. And you can FORGET about them even touching a vegetable of any sort. I incorporate some protein into their diet with the protein noodles, protein chips, and the protein yogurt drinks. HACK: the protein yogurts remind them of Danimals yogurt smoothies, so they love them! The Quest protein chips taste really good, but they do have a bit of a weird texture, so if texture is a problem for your picky eater these might not work. But you can always give it a try!

The veggie poppables are a way that I get some veggies into them. They do make a healthier version with less ingredients, just look for the bag that says “Lays Simply” when you do your grocery shopping! The cauliflower rice can be a tricky one if you have a picky eater because it does have a distinct taste. My kids don’t eat rice, so this one comes from my experience with adults that are picky. Mix the cauliflower rice 50/50 with regular white rice and it dulls down the cauliflower taste enough that your picky eater should be okay with it (especially if you’re incorporating it into a meal with other flavors or putting a sauce on it)!

The Ragú sauce is just another option for spaghetti night with far less ingredients in it than other types of sauce. I know a lot of people are trying to switch to foods that are made with less ingredients, this one is a good option!

The Outshine brand of fruit bars and popsicles are a great option for getting fruit into your picky kiddos if they won’t just eat regular fruit, and it is a great alternative to other popsicles! They have no artificial flavors or color and they taste amazing. Our favorite flavor is the Grape!
