✨ BTO RENOVATION UPDATE – August Last Week✨

August has been a month of… waiting. 🥲

🔑 Timeline Recap

• 25 July – Collected keys & arranged inspection on the same day.

• 16 Aug – Earliest appointment we could get for joint inspection with BSC (yes, 3 weeks of waiting just for that).

• At the inspection, we were told rectification would take another 14 working days.

• Worst part: we couldn’t even start renovation in parallel because of a hollow spot on the floor — tiling had to wait.

✍🏻 We wrote in to BSC about the delays. Thankfully, they responded and managed to fix the major defects after 1 week (instead of 14WD). 🙌 There are still some minor defects, but we decided to close one eye — otherwise we’ll never get started.

🚧 Finally… renovation begins on 29 August!

After all the waiting, the reno journey officially begins!

... Read moreWaiting for BTO renovations to start can feel endless, especially when unexpected issues like hollow spots in flooring hold up tiling and renovation work. From personal experience, communication with the BSC (Building and Social Committee) is crucial. Writing a clear letter explaining your concerns about delays helped speed up the major repairs from the expected 14 working days to just one week. Even with some minor defects outstanding, sometimes it’s best to compromise and start renovation sooner rather than later to avoid further waiting. Scheduling joint inspections early and staying proactive about follow-ups can also reduce downtime. Many homeowners have faced similar frustrations—long gaps between collecting keys, inspection scheduling, and actual renovation start. If you’re in the same boat, consider documenting your timeline clearly and don’t hesitate to escalate politely if delays seem excessive. Preparing yourself mentally for these bumps in the road can make the overall experience less stressful. This phased approach to renovation, balancing patience and action, ultimately leads to turning that new BTO house into a home despite the waiting period challenges.

No more renovation woes 🤣
The first house we had, we hired and ID…. Let’s just say it didn’t go really well…. Hence this time, we decided to go with a contractor instead since we already knew what we want to do and all I can say is, best decision ever 💯 Also pocket friendly 🤣🤣

It’s been a while since our last update, and renovation progress has been moving surprisingly fast! One of the biggest changes is our living room feature wall, which is finally up. It nicely covers the awkward structural gap that seems to be present in many BTO units, and we’re really happy with
