HOW TO HEAL THE PART OF YOU THAT STILL THINKS YOU’RE NOT ENOUGH

1. Stop treating the wound like a personality flaw.

You are not “too insecure.” Something taught you to question your worth. That belief may be old, but it does not have to become your identity.

2. Catch the old story before you believe it.

“They will leave.”

“I am too much.”

“I should be further by now.”

Pause and ask yourself, “Is this happening now, or is an old wound expecting an old ending?”

3. Stop exhausting yourself trying to deserve love.

You do not have to be prettier, quieter, stronger, more useful, or more successful to be worthy of care. Real love should not feel like an audition.

4. Become a safe place for yourself.

On the days you make mistakes, feel behind, or do not have everything together, do not abandon yourself too. Speak to yourself with the kindness you once needed from someone else.

5. Let good love feel safe.

If you are used to disappointment, consistency can feel suspicious. You may keep waiting for the catch. Healing means slowly learning that peace does not always mean something bad is coming.

6. Have compassion for the version of you who over-performed.

She was trying to survive. She thought being perfect might stop people from leaving. She thought being useful might make her worth keeping.

Thank her. Then let her rest.

7. Give yourself new evidence every day.

Keep one promise to yourself.

Say no when you mean no.

Rest without guilt.

Walk away from what repeatedly hurts you.

Acknowledge something you did well without immediately criticizing yourself.

That is how self-trust comes back.

Small advice: Tonight, write one thing you survived, one thing you changed, and one thing you are proud of becoming.

Affirmation: I do not have to earn my worth. I am allowed to heal slowly, trust myself again, and become someone who no longer abandons herself.

... Read moreHealing the part of us that feels 'not enough' is a journey that involves patience, self-compassion, and consistent practice. From my experience, one of the most important steps is recognizing that old wounds and limiting beliefs are not facts—they are past stories that no longer serve us. Whenever negative thoughts such as "I'm too much" or "I should be further by now" creep in, pause and challenge them. Ask yourself if these thoughts reflect your present reality or are conditioned responses from past hurt. Creating a safe inner environment is crucial. When you make mistakes or feel behind, instead of self-abandonment, speak kindly to yourself—as if comforting a dear friend. I found that journaling helps in acknowledging daily wins no matter how small. Writing down one thing you survived, one thing you changed, and one thing you’re proud of can reinforce positive evidence against that old critical inner voice. Another insight I gained is understanding that real love and acceptance do not require earning. The idea that you have to be stronger, quieter, or more successful to deserve care is exhausting. Instead, gently telling yourself “I am worthy as I am” cultivates self-trust and inner peace. Finally, remember that healing is not linear. You might feel suspicious or uneasy with consistency and peace because disappointment became familiar. It's normal to wait for a catch, but slowly allowing yourself to feel safe with good love—whether from within or others—makes a profound difference. By integrating these practices daily and offering compassion to your past self who over-performed to survive, you open the door to healing and self-acceptance. Keep affirming: you don’t have to earn your worth—it's inherently yours.
