Why have emergency money?
Emergency money is money that we prepare to deal with unexpected situations such as unemployment, illness, or unforeseen events in life. Many people often overlook it, but it is actually a thin line between "stability" and "financial failure."
If there is no emergency money, when there is an unexpected occurrence, we often have to rely on debt such as credit cards or informal loans, which makes the finances even more negative and creates an unending interest burden. On the other hand, if we have emergency money, we will have a "financial bumper" to get through the crisis without borrowing and still have confidence in living.
Emergency finance principles to know
1. Emergency money should be collected at least 3-6 times the cost per month.
2. Store it where it can be used immediately, such as a savings account or an easy-to-withdraw high-interest deposit account.
3. Clearly separated from savings for other goals
Emergency money is not an investment to generate returns, but a hedge, a shield that keeps us from having to go back and start counting every time life runs into trouble.
