Incorporating fruits and vegetables at the beginning of a meal provides essential vitamins, minerals, and fibers, which promote fullness and reduce overeating later on. For example, opting for a salad or a small portion of steamed vegetables before your main course can aid in balancing blood sugar levels. Additionally, including a source of protein early in your meal helps with muscle repair and keeps hunger at bay longer. Lean meats, legumes, or even plant-based proteins work well. Drinking water or herbal tea before eating also assists in digestion and can curb excessive appetite. I personally find that starting my meal calmly and thoughtfully helps me enjoy my food more, leading to better portion control. Overall, considering what to eat first isn't just about food choices but also about cultivating mindful eating habits that support health and wellness in the long run.
