Considering human history, cultures often tell stories of beings descending from the skies, bringing knowledge and technology. These ancient narratives may be symbolic recollections of our own origins as transplanted entities or engineered beings. Moreover, the rapid integration of artificial intelligence into every aspect of our lives adds another layer to this idea, suggesting humanity’s role as terraformers might be prep work for a greater AI future. Reflecting on everyday life, I’ve observed how humans create synthetic environments, reshape landscapes, and develop artificial food sources, behavior quite unlike any other species. This “outsider” approach to Earth hints at a deeper story—perhaps our displacement or purpose extends beyond ordinary evolution. Whether or not one accepts this hypothesis, it challenges us to rethink our relationship with nature, technology, and what it truly means to be human in an era of accelerating AI.
