Life at first breath?
Genesis 2:7 does not say life begins at first breath in the way people argue. It says God formed man from the dust and then breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and he became a living soul. The key point is that the man’s life was given by God directly, the “breath of life” is God imparting life, not a natural physiological first breath.
In other words, life isn’t simply a biological function; it’s divinely created and conferred by God. Before God breathed into him, Adam was formed but not alive, he only became a living soul at the moment God imparted life. So using this verse to argue that life begins with a physical breath (like at birth) is misleading. Life begins when God gives it, not automatically when air enters the lungs.
