HOW I REMEMBER MEDS + LABS AS A CRITICAL CARE RN 💉
I’ll never forget my first night shift when a doctor asked me a patient’s morning potassium level, and my brain went completely blank. 😅 After that, I knew I needed a solid system to keep track of critical meds and labs—especially when running on zero sleep.
Now, I always write things down immediately, group meds by purpose (pressors = BP support, beta blockers = slow HR), and focus on lab trends instead of just numbers. Also, I’ll set alarms for time-sensitive meds and lab draws so nothing slips through the cracks.
