Homeschooling looks like this

#girlpov #lemon8challenge #homeschoolmom

Our now 16 year old daughter started doing school online through FLVS to be able to work on her own schedule and get more one on one help with stuff that's more difficult for her to understand right off the bat....and it's brought hers and her little brothers grades wayyyyy up and they're both doing better mentally because of their freedom throughout the day based on the amount of work they put in for each class. It's teaching them responsibility and I love it so much. They both have all As and Bs in all their classes and they're thriving. I think next year we will let our oldest do her senior year in person and we hope she keeps up the good work and stays focused. I'm so proud of them and all their hard work. Watching people grow is a beautiful thing....so if you're not a teacher....you could tutor...you have to remember not everyone knows everything that you know ...so focus on what you DO know and how you can help others grow in knowledge and confidence through interacting with you. Homeschooling has been a huge success for multiple children and we would definitely recommend it! We are doing FLVS FLEX so we can work at our own pace but work must be handed in every 7 days for each class and some classes expect 3 assignments per week ...but most are one or two assignments per week. Quizzes can be reattempted upto 3x and it really helps you get that correct info deeper in your memory by seeing it over and over again. If you've consistently it, I say do it! 🖤

... Read moreAfter sharing our incredible FLVS FLEX homeschooling journey, I've heard from so many of you asking about the 'how-to' – how do we actually make it work day-to-day? It’s true, creating a successful home learning environment with FLVS FLEX goes beyond just signing up. I want to share some practical tips from our experience that might help you if you're considering or already navigating the world of FLVS FLEX homeschooling. Creating Your Ideal Home Study Setup One of the first things we focused on was establishing a dedicated space for learning. Just like the image shows a girl at her desk with a computer and school supplies, having a specific 'home study setup' signals to everyone that this is where school happens. It doesn't need to be a fancy classroom, but a consistent spot where your child can focus. We made sure each child had a comfortable chair, good lighting, and all their essential school supplies readily available. A reliable computer and stable internet connection are non-negotiable for FLVS FLEX. We also found that personalizing their space a bit, with maybe a plant or a favorite photo (like in our own setup), made it feel more inviting and less like a sterile classroom. Mastering the FLVS FLEX Schedule While FLVS FLEX offers the amazing benefit of working at your own pace, it’s still crucial to establish a routine. The 'work at your own pace' doesn't mean no structure at all, especially with assignments due every 7 days. We found creating a weekly plan, rather than a rigid daily schedule, worked best. For example, we'd aim to complete core subjects in the mornings, taking breaks for physical activity, and then tackling electives or reviewing work in the afternoons. Using a digital planner or even a simple wall calendar to track assignments and deadlines for each class has been a lifesaver. This approach teaches incredible responsibility and time management skills, as kids learn to allocate their hours to meet their commitments. Maximizing FLVS FLEX Features for Deeper Learning One of the features I absolutely love about FLVS FLEX is the ability to reattempt quizzes up to three times. This isn't just about getting a better grade; it’s a powerful tool for truly mastering the material. We encourage our kids to review their incorrect answers, go back to their notes or lesson materials, and really understand the concepts before trying again. It reinforces learning in a way that traditional schooling often can't. Also, don't forget to leverage your FLVS teachers! They are an incredible resource. Encourage your children to reach out with questions, attend live help sessions, and utilize all the support available to them. Parental Support & Engagement As parents, our role in FLVS FLEX homeschooling is more about facilitation and encouragement than direct teaching. We regularly check in on their progress, help them organize their workload, and provide a quiet, supportive environment. It’s about fostering independence while still being present. Celebrating their achievements, no matter how small, keeps their motivation high. This journey has truly been transformative for our kids, allowing them to thrive academically and personally. With a little planning and dedication, your FLVS FLEX homeschooling experience can be just as rewarding!
