How I gain Motivation

I am such a huge procrastinator when it comes to basically anything in my life but especially assignments and i’m always scrambling to do them last minute. I started doing this method and it’s surprisingly helped.

I write my assignments down on paper and cross them off one by one when i finish them. Something about wasting the paper by not finishing them makes me feel guilty.

Hope this could help!

... Read moreOkay, so I shared my super simple paper list hack for beating procrastination, and I know so many of you feel that struggle! It's not just about writing things down; it's about tricking your brain into getting things done. Let me dive a little deeper into why this works so well for me and some other strategies I've picked up to keep that study motivation high, especially when exam season hits or I'm facing a mountain of college assignments. Firstly, for the paper list method itself: it's all about making the abstract concrete. When I see 'Assignments Due By Sunday' staring back at me, with a clear list of tasks, it feels less overwhelming than a mental to-do list. I always make sure to list 'ASSIGNMENT NAMES IN ORDER OF MOST IMPORTANT/BIGGER GRADES.' This helps me prioritize and makes sure I'm tackling what truly matters first. The magic truly happens when I get to physically 'CROSS THEM OFF!' It's such a satisfying little win, and those small wins build momentum. The guilt of having an unfinished item on that physical paper, knowing I'm 'wasting' the space, genuinely pushes me. It's a tangible reminder of my commitment. But what else helps when motivation is just *gone*? Break It Down (Even Further): Sometimes even a bullet point on my list feels too big. If 'Write Essay' is there, I'll add sub-bullets: 'Outline Introduction,' 'Find 3 Sources,' 'Write Body Paragraph 1.' This makes it less daunting. The 15-Minute Rule: If I absolutely can't start, I tell myself, 'Just work on this for 15 minutes.' Often, once those 15 minutes are up, I'm already in the zone and keep going! It's about overcoming that initial inertia. Reward Yourself (Smartly!): Finished a tough section? Take a 10-minute break for a snack, listen to one song, or scroll social media *briefly*. Don't let rewards derail your focus, but use them as positive reinforcement. Optimise Your Study Space: A clean, organised desk, good lighting, and minimal distractions make a huge difference. I try to make my study area a place I want to be, not a dungeon of doom. Find Your 'Why': When I'm dragging, I remind myself why I'm doing this. Is it for a good grade, to learn something new, to achieve a future goal? Tapping into that deeper motivation can be incredibly powerful for positive exam motivation. Time Blocking: I use my calendar not just for classes, but for dedicated study blocks. Treating study time like an appointment makes it harder to skip. Accountability Partner: Sometimes, just telling a friend or classmate what I plan to achieve for the day makes me more likely to do it. Knowing someone else knows my goals can be a great motivator. Remember, everyone struggles with motivation sometimes. It's about finding those little tricks that work for *you*. My paper list is my go-to, but combining it with these other strategies really helps me stay on track and conquer those assignments. You've got this!
