Sometimes when I felt hungry, it was actually my body signaling thirst. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day has helped me better distinguish between true hunger and thirst signals. Another factor is under-fueling workouts. If you're not eating enough protein or carbs before or after exercise, your body may signal the need for more energy, causing you to eat more later. I've found that balanced meals with good protein sources like burrata or shrimp combined with whole grains and healthy fats can stabilize my hunger. Lastly, emotional regulation and a sense of comfort strongly influence eating habits. Eating is not just about food; it can be linked to feeling safe and regulated. I learned that creating a flexible plan that aligns with my lifestyle, rather than harsh restrictions, reduced the urge to overeat. By recognizing these patterns—lack of sleep, dehydration, under-fueling, and emotional triggers—you can address overeating in a compassionate and effective way. It's important to listen to your body while also considering your environment and emotional needs for sustainable wellness.
