I experimented with shaping each bagel by hand, which added a personal touch and was surprisingly fun. Once boiled and placed in the oven, the aroma filled my kitchen, signaling that my efforts were about to pay off. The first batch turned out great—golden brown on the outside with that classic chewiness inside. I topped some with sesame seeds and others with poppy seeds, but plain bagels fresh from the oven were also delicious. Sharing them with family made the experience even better. For anyone considering making bagels at home, I recommend starting with a basic recipe and gradually experimenting with toppings and flavors. Homemade bagels allow you to control the ingredients, making them a healthier and customizable alternative to store-bought versions. Plus, the satisfaction of creating something from scratch is truly delightful.
